Broadway Challenge - 13th April 2019
The Broadway Challenge Fundraiser - Saturday 13th April, Bonnington Hotel
What does this event entail?
This is a fantastic nights entertainment for all involved. Groups of friends will train together to deliver a hugely entertaining melody/chorus line, 6-7 minutes long of a famous Broadway musical, such as Mamma Mia, Bohemian Rhapsody, The Blues Brothers, Hairspray, to name a few.
This will all be guided by a large team of professionals who will highlight all your efforts in a full theatrical production.
Performers - Who can take part
Anyone can take part so they do not have to have children in the school or be involved in the school in some way to be part of one of the teams. So a family friend, neighbour or work colleague could be a potential team member of a team.
Performers - What's involved?
Each team of 10 performers will be trained for 1 hour a week for 6 weeks, the location for this has yet to be decided but it will be local. This will culminate in a live show in the Bonnington Hotel on Saturday the 13th of April with the teams competing for bragging rights in front of an energetic audience of family & friends.
What skills are required?
All participants are welcome and will be challenged to their level of ability. Skilled or novice, you will be part of a team and a great time will be guaranteed!
The artistic director will assess each group and will assign a suitable show to that team.
There will be choreographers as well as voice coaches who will help as part of the professional team. You can sing live on the night or pre-record your performance and lip-sync on the night if that is preferable, it is up to you.
How are funds raised?
Each member will have a maximum ticket allocation of 10 tickets for friends and family. We will also ask each person to seek sponsorship of between €200 - €300, we will distribute sponsorship cards as well as using iDonate through social media for anyone to raise these funds.
What are funds being raised for?
The funds raised will be used for buying iPads and eReaders for the school.
Outfits
The costumes for the event aren't provided but there would not be a huge outlay for this, they can even be home-made if needed. Otherwise the right outfits can be found on www.costumeshop.ie
What's next?
Please get in touch to let me know that you are interested in taking part at stvincentdepaulmusical@gmail.com, we will also be hosting an information night on Thursday the 7th of February, where members of the professional team will be in attendance to go through everything in much more detail.
Remember: This is an event that is open to anyone to take part in, such as friends, work colleagues or even neighbours and not just for those with a child attending the school.
