Room 1 Junior Infants - Halloween Aistear Theme
Over the past two weeks the Junior Infants have been learning through play during 'Aistear' time, within the theme of Halloween! There were 6 different activities to have fun with including the sociodramatic area (a 'Witches and Wizards Workshop') where the children dressed up as witches and wizards and cooked up a storm in the kitchen boiling brains and stirring in frog legs! In the construction area the students helped each other to build haunted houses and spooky castles. In the small world area the children played with a magical palace and a haunted house with ghosts, princes and princesses! In the junk art area the children used old bits of paper, fabric and feathers to make their own Halloween masks. In the playdough area the students made pumpkins, ghosts, witches and more! And in the fine motor skills area the students cut out Halloween pictures and glued them down to make a collage. Lots of learning and oral language took place and most importantly they had lots of fun!
