SCIENCE WEEK AND MORE
Dear Parents,
Science week is nearly here…from 10th to 17th November.
Science Week 2019 will focus on climate action, seeking to help people understand climate change, how science and technology can help us create a positive climate future and the impact we as individuals can have on climate change.

However, in the Infant school our science week mostly comprises of simple fun science experiments across a very broad range of areas so feel free to have some fun at home by googling experiments.
You’ll find some at https://www.sfi.ie/engagement/discover-primary-science-and-maths/activities-search/index.xml#result https://www.sfi.ie/engagement/discover-primary-science-and-maths/activities-search/index.xml - result

If you work in a science related field and could present an age appropriate talk to your child’s class (and others) in the next few weeks, please email us at info@svdpinfants.ie or talk to the teacher.
We would be delighted to welcome scientists to the school in the coming weeks.
Also, to all of our parent Engineers, we extend the same invitation for Engineers Week in March.
Last year the children really enjoyed talks from visiting engineers organised by the parents’ association.
Finally, don’t hesitate to contact your child’s teacher if your work lends itself to educational visits to our school. In the past we have had visiting firefighters, nurses, doctors, postal workers, writers, electricians, gardeners..and many more and the children have benefitted hugely.
Thank you and we look forward to seeing you soon.
